  49. Thank you! I look forward to reading more of yours! The wonton cup was a lot of fun to make.

  50. Ankit Says:

I would love to stop by. Though, is a guest allowed to assist the chef in the kitchen and then steal the recipes?
    😛

  57. Great job with compiling all of these yummy looking foods! You’ll have to share some recipes, too!

  58. I love to share recipes! Just email me and tell me which one you want and I’ll send it to you!

  59. How about the stuffed french toast?

  60. Send me an email to virginiaplantation@gmail.com and I will give you the receipe!

  61. I can’t believe you offer so many options for breakfast. B&B is much simpler here in the UK, we just offer variations on full English breakfast!!

  62. Thank you! I love to cook and love to share them. We won’t offer them all at once. It’s one dish per breakfast. If I offered all of the at the same time, I would be dead! haha. England is one the place I have wanted to go for a long time. My husband traveled there several time while he was in the Navy. But I have yet to go. I love English history!

  63. You’d be most welcome to stay with us if you ever come to the UK

  64. Now I want to jump on the next flight and head over! I guess I will have to wait until we get our first vacation time and the money to do it!

  65. Yes, I’m very hungry now!! It all looks sooooo delicious. Your guests will have a hard time deciding what to have!

  66. Thank you! Thankfully we are only going to serve the B&B guest one of these per day. We are going to have a Sunday brunch open to the public by reservations too. There you can get a choice of one of them!

  67. John Says:

Marvelous Images. I just took a bite out of my monitor! I don’t believe you will have any problems getting feet under your table.

  68. Thank you! That has to be the best comment I received today! You made me laugh! I look forward to seeing more photos from your blog! I love history so any pictures of history will get my attention!

  69. Wow! Your breakfast menu looks wonderful. I especially like the grits! Fancy and wonderful!

  70. Yay! I have another southern grits lover! Grits were something we had everyday growing up. Thank you!

  71. What are grits?? don’t have these in the UK

  72. Do you know what cream of wheat is? It the same as that but made of corn. Most people think of it as “gritty” due to the name, but any good southern cook will tell you that it isn’t true. If you cool them right with water and cream and don’t use instant, they are cream and smooth and very good.

  73. It all looks wonderful!

  74. Thank you! I love cooking these and a lot of others!

  75. Thank you! I can’t wait to serve the right thing soon!

  76. Valentina Says:

You are on my list of places to visit. Best of luck.

  79. Thank you! We welcome you and look forward to you enjoying the real thing!

  80. MissPreece Says:

Your food looks incredibly tasty and well presented, thanks for making me hungry at midnight!

  81. Aw I’m Sorry! If you were at my B&B, I would cook you something!

  82. petra08 Says:

It looks amazing, it is dinner time in London but I would rather have breakfast time at your B&B!

  83. Thank you! I believe breakfast is good anytime!

  84. Is that at your b and b!? Wow I’m drooling!

  85. Yes and you are welcome to come and simple that menu once we open!

  86. Where is it?

  88. Ohh I’m in ohio so will see

  89. meyerspies Says:

  91. Looks yummy! Good luck with your B&B!

  108. noctiluna Says:

Thank you! I am truly honored.
I’m a little confused, am I supposed to do anything right now?

  109. I’m also a bit confused as it is Virginia Plantation that I nominated,…………

  110. noctiluna Says:

    🙂 technical glitch I guess!

  111. Shofar Says:

Thanks for dropping in on my blog at heulu.wordpress.com
and sharing your most delightful blog with me. I would love to learn history the way you tell it. You’re a great writer and storyteller, Virginia! Would you serve vegetarian dishes also?

  112. Thank you! I have a great editor, my husband. Yes we will be offering vegetarian dishes as well. My sister in the last post has given me lots of great receipes and I am finding tons of them on wordpress. We hope that we will be able to reveal it this week. After that, watch out! I have a ton of history and stories about this plantation! I spent nine to ten months researching its past. I even found photos of it in a library in California. I made arrangement for a copy of them to be sent to me. These photos were the first ones of this house in 1901 and the first time any one in the area had seen what the owner at that time looked like. It was really special!

  113. stephslyter Says:

I eat breakfast no matter what time of the day is my first meal. It just has the most comforting food. If I am ever in Virginia I am definitely looking you guys up.

  114. Thank you! We hope to see you! Yes, I have to say breakfast is our favorite meal of the day and eat it often for dinner!

  115. orples Says:

If your meals are as scrumptious as they look, your Bed and Breakfast should take off like a rocket.

  116. Well thank you! We hope it will. We just can’t wait to share it!

  117. The stuffed french toast looks perfect!! thanks for the post.

  118. coville123 Says:

It looks great must be a dream come true! It’s beautiful!

  119. Thank you, it is. When the lottery got really big not too long ago and was won by three people, my husband and I received the final approval from the owner’s family. We joked that it was us that won the “lottery”! We still have to pinch ourselves to make sure it real!

  120. It was good! Thank you!

  121. claude Says:

I spent about a year in the area of your plantation. I was in Norfolk, Blufield, Va Beach, and Roanoke. It has been a long time since I’ve been back, 30 yrs.

    Good luck with your project.

  122. Thank you! Our plantation isn’t near any of those places. Go north of Virginia Beach and Norfolk about 2 hours. Thats where you will find it.

  123. Hans Susser Says:

Great breakfast items. ” Real Food”. Congratulations

  124. Thank you! We like to use fresh items, local when we can! Its the best way to do it!

  125. Cecil Scaglione Says:

This retired chef says Kudos on your breakfast menu. I’m having a moment in time where I’ve just awoke in your wonderful B & B. I’ve decided I’m never leaving. Darlings, hurrah’s to you. Virginia

  152. Thank you! That means alot to me. I have never taken any courses, but “earned and learned” by experience. Maybe on day we can share tips at the Plantation! After you have slept in and eaten your breakfast on the Riverside balcony over looking the beautiful river.

  153. belocchio Says:

Of course. One day I will visit Virginia Plantation. And early in the morning I will creep into the kitchen and make YOU breakfast… perhaps crepes with a little champagne. Virginia

  154. Oh my! Now wouldn’t that be a kick!

  155. […] http://virginiaplantation.wordpress.com […]

  156. Thank you so much for this. We really appreciate you thinking of us!

  157. JulesPaige Says:

Your breakfasts look wonderful. The kitchen not being my favorite room allows me to experiment when I do cook. I’ve started making a quiche or maybe you might call it an egg pie as I probably use more eggs than the average quiche. I used to use a prepared pie crust for the bottom, but as something in it didn’t agree with a family member I have tried making them without a crust. I spray the bottom of my glass pie plate with the baking spray, coat with about 1/4 to 1/3 matzo meal, but I guess you could also use panko or other bread crumbs. Pre- heat the oven to 375. Depending on the egg size I use 5 – 7 eggs. I separate the whites from the yolks – the first egg white goes into coating the bottom and sides of the ‘crumbed’ pie plate (I’d do that too with a pie crust but also poke holes in the dough too). I use a variety of veggies, some I steam for 3 – 5 minutes first… broccoli, asparagus tips, onion, coli-flower…About 1, 1 & 1/2 cups total veggies more or less – I’m not one to measure. I also mix my cheeses – about a cup total of Swiss, cheddar or just one or the other chopped up in small cubes. I hand whip up the whites and lately have been adding fresh dill, add the yolks back and beat them together.

I put in about half the veggies, half the cheese and repeat – I start with veggies and end with the cheese. Then I pour the egg mix evenly over the veggies and cheese and check in twenty minutes. I often let it go for another 5 and then turn off the oven and let it go for another five – I have an electric oven. While I like to eat it hot, my eldest and hubby also like this dish cold.

Continued success – I enjoyed reading the history of your plantation.

  158. Ooo Now I have to try this! Thank you for sharing your idea! Thank you for stopping by our blog too! We really apprecate it! btw – sorry it took so long for me to reply to your comment! For some reason I don’t see every comment that is made on my notifications with WordPress. I have to page through all my blogs to make sure I don’t miss anyone. Thank you again!

Thank you for stopping by my spot to read about my cabin cat. Your B&B looks fabulous and appears to be a giant undertaking.
