This looks amazing! My friends are asking where you are you’ve made us all starving!
Haha… mission accomplished! We have to hold on the location until we have finished with signing the legal stuff. The lawyers are working on the contracts this week and maybe next. We hope to be able to reveal it by end of next week or early the following week. I can tell you it is in Virginia and it is very historic. I look forward to having you and your friends over to enjoy those dishes!
Food looks lovely.
Thank you! It was very good too. At least that is what my husband tells me. : )
I’ve gotta have the egg ham cup! Gorgeous.
I love making them! They are so good!
It is almost midnight, and thanks to your pictures I’m craving breakfast… Looks amazing!
Haha Thank you! I hope you had breakfast by now : )
Hey! Thanks for the like on my blog! I was browsing your blog and I just wanted to tell you… I could eat your eggs benny with the fried green tomato for every meal and I would be a happy lady. It looks like heaven on a little white plate!
Seriously… I’m drooling over here.
-Darci
Thank you! That is one of our favorites! My son could eat it every meal too! I look forward to reading more of your blog!
I should have stopped while I was ahead (with the last blog entry) now I desperately need to find a way to convince my DH that we need to fly back into the States and stay in Virginia…and by the looks of the list for at least a month!
Thank you! We’ll keep the light on!
It all looks so delicious! Hope the paperwork goes smoothly. Looking forward to the reveal. Thank you for the like on my blog – led me to this exciting development!
Thank you! It has been going sslllloooowwwly. Of course we are too excited to wait patiently. We look forward to reading more of your blog. Virginia Wines are going to be a big part of our B&B. We have several vineyards close to the plantation. I even see a Wine Fest weekend in our future!
As you started following my blog afracooking.wordpress.com I had to stop by at yours. The breakfasts on this post just look mouthwateringly delicious! I love the idea of serving scrambled egg in a wonton cup – must try that idea!
Thank you! I look forward to reading more of yours! The wonton cup was a lot of fun to make.
I would love to stop by. Though, is a guest allowed to assist the chef in the kitchen and then steal the recipes?
😛
I have no secrets and I never turn down extra hands in the kitchen!
Now that would be my kind of B&B
🙂
As soon as we open, you are welcome to head over. We’ll keep the light on : )
Oh please do, it gets awfully dark out.
The dishes all look so delicious…I would love the blueberry oatmeal streusel french toast…looks like bread pudding for breakfast, my favorite 🙂
Thank you! That is exactly what it is. I can’t make it too often though because my husband tends to hog it. Your food looks wonderful too!!
Great job with compiling all of these yummy looking foods! You’ll have to share some recipes, too!
I love to share recipes! Just email me and tell me which one you want and I’ll send it to you!
How about the stuffed french toast?
Send me an email to virginiaplantation@gmail.com and I will give you the receipe!
I can’t believe you offer so many options for breakfast. B&B is much simpler here in the UK, we just offer variations on full English breakfast!!
Thank you! I love to cook and love to share them. We won’t offer them all at once. It’s one dish per breakfast. If I offered all of the at the same time, I would be dead! haha. England is one the place I have wanted to go for a long time. My husband traveled there several time while he was in the Navy. But I have yet to go. I love English history!
You’d be most welcome to stay with us if you ever come to the UK
Now I want to jump on the next flight and head over! I guess I will have to wait until we get our first vacation time and the money to do it!
Yes, I’m very hungry now!! It all looks sooooo delicious. Your guests will have a hard time deciding what to have!
Thank you! Thankfully we are only going to serve the B&B guest one of these per day. We are going to have a Sunday brunch open to the public by reservations too. There you can get a choice of one of them!
Marvelous Images. I just took a bite out of my monitor! I don’t believe you will have any problems getting feet under your table.
Thank you! That has to be the best comment I received today! You made me laugh! I look forward to seeing more photos from your blog! I love history so any pictures of history will get my attention!
Wow! Your breakfast menu looks wonderful. I especially like the grits! Fancy and wonderful!
Yay! I have another southern grits lover! Grits were something we had everyday growing up. Thank you!
What are grits?? don’t have these in the UK
Do you know what cream of wheat is? It the same as that but made of corn. Most people think of it as “gritty” due to the name, but any good southern cook will tell you that it isn’t true. If you cool them right with water and cream and don’t use instant, they are cream and smooth and very good.
It all looks wonderful!
Thank you! I love cooking these and a lot of others!
Thank you! I can’t wait to serve the right thing soon!
Great reading – thanks – I’ll drop by again….www.vintagecakestands.wordpress.com
Thank you! I look forward to reading more of yours too!
Oh my! I couldn’t even begin to tell you which looks best to me. Ricotta and anything! Yikes. Love it. Grits and shrimp. Ahhhh! To die for. Cheese? Oh please!
You are on my list of places to visit. Best of luck.
Thank you! We welcome you and look forward to you enjoying the real thing!
Your food looks incredibly tasty and well presented, thanks for making me hungry at midnight!
Aw I’m Sorry! If you were at my B&B, I would cook you something!
It looks amazing, it is dinner time in London but I would rather have breakfast time at your B&B!
Thank you! I believe breakfast is good anytime!
Is that at your b and b!? Wow I’m drooling!
Yes and you are welcome to come and simple that menu once we open!
Where is it?
Its in Virginia, but we are able to say yet. We are about to sign the contract for the plantation. Once we do, we can let you know.
Ohh I’m in ohio so will see
We liked your egg in a cup.
Thank you! What you don’t see is that there is pesto in the bottom of the cup! Yum!
Looks yummy! Good luck with your B&B!
OMG this all looks so good!!! I want it all
Thank you! You are welcome to come get all of it at the B&B once we open!
We live in Oregon & don’t get to VA much. How about publishing a cookbook? Your photographs are irresistible!!
Thank you! Aw, well if you get to the East Coast some day, we will always be here! I haven’t thought about that. Maybe someday!
This looks delicious! If I am out that way I would love to stop in.
Thank you! We will leave a light on for ya!
This all looks amazing! I love the egg in ham cups, it looks a bit like my croque madame muffins. Can you leave me a comment explaining how you make that? Your blog is great fun!
Thank you! I will send you an email with the recipe!
Top marks for presentation!
Looks incredible! I think I gained weight just looking. Can’t wait to find your location!
Haha, I know we did when we visited it! Soon! We will tell soon!
My mouth is watering. Great blog. Very excited about the B&B.

Thank you! I am truly honored.
Thank you! I am truly honored.
I’m a little confused, am I supposed to do anything right now?
I’m also a bit confused as it is Virginia Plantation that I nominated,…………
🙂 technical glitch I guess!
Thanks for dropping in on my blog at heulu.wordpress.com
and sharing your most delightful blog with me. I would love to learn history the way you tell it. You’re a great writer and storyteller, Virginia! Would you serve vegetarian dishes also?
Thank you! I have a great editor, my husband. Yes we will be offering vegetarian dishes as well. My sister in the last post has given me lots of great receipes and I am finding tons of them on wordpress. We hope that we will be able to reveal it this week. After that, watch out! I have a ton of history and stories about this plantation! I spent nine to ten months researching its past. I even found photos of it in a library in California. I made arrangement for a copy of them to be sent to me. These photos were the first ones of this house in 1901 and the first time any one in the area had seen what the owner at that time looked like. It was really special!
I eat breakfast no matter what time of the day is my first meal. It just has the most comforting food. If I am ever in Virginia I am definitely looking you guys up.
Thank you! We hope to see you! Yes, I have to say breakfast is our favorite meal of the day and eat it often for dinner!
If your meals are as scrumptious as they look, your Bed and Breakfast should take off like a rocket.
Well thank you! We hope it will. We just can’t wait to share it!
The stuffed french toast looks perfect!! thanks for the post.
It looks great must be a dream come true! It’s beautiful!
Thank you, it is. When the lottery got really big not too long ago and was won by three people, my husband and I received the final approval from the owner’s family. We joked that it was us that won the “lottery”! We still have to pinch ourselves to make sure it real!
It was good! Thank you!
I spent about a year in the area of your plantation. I was in Norfolk, Blufield, Va Beach, and Roanoke. It has been a long time since I’ve been back, 30 yrs.
Good luck with your project.
Thank you! Our plantation isn’t near any of those places. Go north of Virginia Beach and Norfolk about 2 hours. Thats where you will find it.
Great breakfast items. ” Real Food”. Congratulations
Thank you! We like to use fresh items, local when we can! Its the best way to do it!
Sugar POW-er breakfast! Whee…
Yes, got to love that sweet! 😉
You bet I’m hungry after looking at those photos! Fabulous! Many of them are a bit different…the eggs roulade sounds great, and the Chesapeake Bay Style eggs benedict…mmm
Thank you! We are looking for more yummy items to add to our receipe file. Watch for more to come!
fantastic menu 🙂
Thank you! It was fun making it!
(in unrelated news–your background is awesome. I love the gradient from dark blue to yellow. Scrolling down to the bottom of the page is like a sunrise.)
Haha, we like too! Kind of formal, but not. Thank you for noticing.
Now THAT’S a breakfast menu! Looks deelish. Love what you’re doing. So very important for people to follow their dreams. Thanks for stopping by foodforfun:-)

Thank you! It was!
This retired chef says Kudos on your breakfast menu. I’m having a moment in time where I’ve just awoke in your wonderful B & B. I’ve decided I’m never leaving. Darlings, hurrah’s to you. Virginia
Thank you! That means alot to me. I have never taken any courses, but “earned and learned” by experience. Maybe on day we can share tips at the Plantation! After you have slept in and eaten your breakfast on the Riverside balcony over looking the beautiful river.
Of course. One day I will visit Virginia Plantation. And early in the morning I will creep into the kitchen and make YOU breakfast… perhaps crepes with a little champagne. Virginia
Oh my! Now wouldn’t that be a kick!
[…] http://virginiaplantation.wordpress.com […]
Thank you so much for this. We really appreciate you thinking of us!
Your breakfasts look wonderful. The kitchen not being my favorite room allows me to experiment when I do cook. I’ve started making a quiche or maybe you might call it an egg pie as I probably use more eggs than the average quiche. I used to use a prepared pie crust for the bottom, but as something in it didn’t agree with a family member I have tried making them without a crust. I spray the bottom of my glass pie plate with the baking spray, coat with about 1/4 to 1/3 matzo meal, but I guess you could also use panko or other bread crumbs. Pre- heat the oven to 375. Depending on the egg size I use 5 – 7 eggs. I separate the whites from the yolks – the first egg white goes into coating the bottom and sides of the ‘crumbed’ pie plate (I’d do that too with a pie crust but also poke holes in the dough too). I use a variety of veggies, some I steam for 3 – 5 minutes first… broccoli, asparagus tips, onion, coli-flower…About 1, 1 & 1/2 cups total veggies more or less – I’m not one to measure. I also mix my cheeses – about a cup total of Swiss, cheddar or just one or the other chopped up in small cubes. I hand whip up the whites and lately have been adding fresh dill, add the yolks back and beat them together.
I put in about half the veggies, half the cheese and repeat – I start with veggies and end with the cheese. Then I pour the egg mix evenly over the veggies and cheese and check in twenty minutes. I often let it go for another 5 and then turn off the oven and let it go for another five – I have an electric oven. While I like to eat it hot, my eldest and hubby also like this dish cold.
Continued success – I enjoyed reading the history of your plantation.
Ooo Now I have to try this! Thank you for sharing your idea! Thank you for stopping by our blog too! We really apprecate it! btw – sorry it took so long for me to reply to your comment! For some reason I don’t see every comment that is made on my notifications with WordPress. I have to page through all my blogs to make sure I don’t miss anyone. Thank you again!

Thank you! They are one of my son’s favorites!
OH MY!! Reminds me of working a decade of summers at Bufflehead Cove Inn in Kennebunkport. The fried green tomato and crab came made me sigh out loud! And I’m at work! Thanks for stopping by my blog, yours looks delish!!

I love how you are making your blog work for you! I have been blogging for a while but started with the intention of simply posting my crazy stories for a growing group of people who know my personally. It has only been very recently that I have truly plugged in to the “blogging community” and I am loving the diversity of bloggers I am meeting and what I’m learning from each of them about the power of this medium. Thank you for stopping by my spot to read about my cabin cat. Your B&B looks fabulous and appears to be a giant undertaking. (I also have to admit that I’d like to visit you right now, just for breakfast!) Good luck with your appeal from Hurley. I’m a firm believe that every enterprise needs a furry spokesperson! MK
Thank you! We have to say Hurley is our best marketing tool. And he is a loyal worker too! Our video of him was so much fun to make with him. Once we open, you are welcome to stop by for breakfast any time of the day! We look forward to seeing more about your cabin cat and your blog. You are so right about this medium. I love it!

Thank you! Sorry this reply is so late! I don’t like how wordpress tells you someone has commented! I tend to miss people because they don’t show on my pending if we click on the viewed section.

Not sure how I would count all that on WW. Might have to use about two weeks worth of points. 🙂 But it would be worth it!
You know after being on WW, I would say it would be closer to a months worth of points! But it would be so worth it! Thank you!

Your food and pictures look great! I looked over some of your other posts but missed exactly where you are located. Can you tell me about the area? I really admire you for following your dream. Thank you! We are located in Port Conway, Virginia. Right across the Rappahannock River from Port Royal, Virginia. About 20 miles south of Fredericksburg. Thank you! We are excited about the journey, hard work and all! It is a passion we can’t wait to share!

Michelle, ya killn’ me! I don’t think anyone in Australia has ever eaten that well! Perhaps I could sell one of my children to pay for an air fare across the waters to sample your slice of American history. And, yeah, I’m salivating, big time! Who wouldn’t want to sample some of those dishes?
Aw thank you David. But don’t sell the kids!
